May Day

Happy May 1st — May Day!

May Day is a public holiday typically celebrated on May 1st.

Historically May Day  is an ancient northern hemisphere spring festival and a traditional spring holiday in many cultures, and celebrated with dances, singing, and cake. Dancing around a maypole is also connected with May Day.

Mrs Farrell, my hatmaker, remembers dancing around the maypole when a child in England.

I would like to dance around a maypole if I can find one. How fun. I think!

In the meantime, I will be celebrating May Day with a hat made of pink and yellow flowerettes, forming a lovely openwork pillbox effect with some of the flowerettes caught in my mane.

Speaking of my mane, I had it styled specifically for the day to glorious effect. Don’t you think so? Let’s take a look.

This hat was created for Spring / Summer 2017 as a specialist design, shown around a bit but not worn. Imagine that Hattingdon fans! I don’t seem to have occasion to wear them all.

Be well. Stay safe. Love you bunches and forever.
