Chris March designing hats with pizzazz for Skylight’s “My Fair Lady”

Wasn’t Chris March on Project Runway? He was, he was. I looked it up. Season 4.

He is still making wow designs, including some highly delicious hats for Skylight’s “My Fair Lady”.

Jim Higgins, reporting for The Journal Sentinel online writes:

The rain in Spain would never touch the heads of performers in Skylight Music Theatre’s production of the musical “My Fair Lady,” which begins Nov. 20.

Natalie Ford, as Eliza Doolittle, and her colleagues will wear giant hats designed by former “Project Runway” star and longtime theater designer Chris March, widely known for creating huge chapeaus, outrageous wigs and singular headpieces.

As March described his work during a recent interview, his costume designs for this “My Fair Lady” will pay heed to Cecil Beaton’s black-and-white scheme for the Ascot scene of the original Broadway production and subsequent movie, but incorporate his own sense of fun, and a touch of surreality. (Look for a big hat with a Union Jack.)
